60 years ago Awana’s ministry to kids began in a Chicago suburb. Today, more than one million children and youth participate weekly in Awana groups around the world.

Recently they unveiled a new initiative to equip parents to be more involved in family discipleship: Awana at Home.

My guest is Michael Scarbrough, Director of U.S. Programs for Awana.

  1. Michael has a good point about the local church needing spiritual leaders who are actively teaching and praying with children in our homes. That is where a biblical faith can best be lived and observed, and scripture’s teachings can be more thoroughly incorporated into the conscious thoughts and actions of children and their parents. This new model for training parents and church leaders in home-based discipleship is needed throughout the church in America.
